Introduction to the Animals of Riverton

Raising animals is one of the centerpieces of Riverton. Horses are the most common, but players can find other pets through other means and exploring the town.

Horse Care

Taking care of your horses is front and center when you visit your pet in My Stables. There are three main ways to keep your horse happy and healthy.

Maintenance

This contributes to your horse's health. If your horse's mood falls to 0%, your horse is dirty, or your horse is hurt, you can use these items to restore some or all.

Treats

Horses lose happiness after going more than 24 hours without being interacted with. Treats make your horses happy! Depending on the treat and amount, your treats can either improve your horse's mood a little or a lot.

Stimulation

While treats only address happiness, stimulation items can improve skills and happiness at the same time. There's two options here within the stable: playing with hay or saltlicks.

Playing with hay involves kicking hay bales, and horses can inadvertently gain skill points when playing. Saltlicks, depending on quality, can improve your horse's mood and, depending on luck, its temperament skill.

Finding Items

Right now, all horse care items are accessible via different shops in Riverton:

  1. Replace Horseshoes requires 4 Horseshoe items, which can be found at the Fair Farrier. All four are consumed upon use.
  2. Brush requires a Coarse Brush item, which can be purchased at the Fair Farrier. Brushes are not consumed upon use.
  3. First Aid Kit requires a First Aid Kit item, which can be purchased at the veterinarian. One will be consumed upon use, even if your pet is at full health.
  4. Treats can be purchased at produce stands and grocery stores.
  5. Hay can be found at the Farm Supply. Since the hay bales are usually disintegrated at the end of playtime, this is consumed upon use.
  6. Saltlicks and Deluxe Saltlicks can be purchased at the Fair Farrier. These are one use only.
